PCMX, 12 mL Scrub Brush

For cleansing hands and forearms prior to surgery

PCMX is a mild antimicrobial solution that is absorbed through the skin and is usually well tolerated for surgical hand scrubbing. Studies have shown that the immediate and residual effects of PCMX are inferior to both chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) 2%, 4% and povidone iodine. It has good activity against gram-positive organisms and fair activity against gram-negative bacteria, mycobacteria and certain viruses. Efficacy increases with repeated use and can be neutralized by nonionic surfactants. PCMX with emollients is formulated to reduce skin irritation and promote healthy skin.

  1. Wet hands and forearms with water.
  2. Clean under nails with nail cleaner.
  3. Scrub for 3 minutes with the impregnated brush.
  4. Pay close attention to the nails, cuticles and interdigital spaces.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with running water.
  6. Repeat.
Limitations and Restrictions
Store at room temperature 15-30C (59-86F).
Avoid excessive heat above 40C (104F).
Protect from freezing.
Latex free.
One-year shelf life.
Product is not sterile.


Warnings
For external use only. Do not use in the eyes. Discontinue use if irritation and redness develops. If condition persists for more than 72 hours, consult a doctor. Stop use and ask a doctor if skin shows symptoms of irritation, sensitivity, redness, pain or swelling. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact poison control center right away.
