Denver® pleural effusion shunt
The Denver® pleural effusion shunt from CareFusion is designed to give your physicians and patients an alternative to conventional therapy in managing intractable pleural effusions.
The Denver shunt transfers pleural fluid into the peritoneal cavity when it is manually pumped. The shunt is indicated for use in patients with refractory pleural effusions, either malignant or chylous. Developed as an alternative to chest tube drainage with chemical pleurodesis, this approach can be ideal for patients who cannot achieve pleurodesis due to a restrictive malignant cortex (trapped lung).
Denver® ascites shunt
The Denver® ascites shunt from CareFusion is a peritoneo-venous shunting system that can help relieve symptoms of ascitic fluid buildup. The ascites shunt can provide physiologic benefits, including increased effective blood volume, renal blood flow and diuresis, retained nutrients and improves nutritional status, improved mobility and respiration and relief of massive, refractory ascites.
