St. Rita’s Medical Center took an already excellent operating structure to the next level with the help of supply chain automation. To reach this level, St. Rita’s installed Pyxis supply automation technologies from San Diego-based CareFusion. After seeing significant financial and operational improvements in medical and surgical areas, St. Rita’s installed supply automation in its operating room (OR). This automation solution integrated with the hospital’s operating room information system (ORIS) to streamline nursing workflow and allow the nurses to spend more time on patient care. In addition, the solution helped St. Rita's improve inventory management, increase charge capture and better control supply costs due to the availability of actionable data.
